One of the things I love about summer is warm summer nights. On Wednesday night I asked the family if they'd like to sit outside with me and watch the stars. The only taker was little Matthew. So we packed up our blankets and navigated our way around the pool to our new anti-gravity chairs. I got on first, then Matt crawled up on my lap. We reclined the chair as far as it would go and snuggled up in a warm fluffy blanket. Next, we began our star gazing.
When we started the sky was still blue and we could see 3 stars. Actually two stars and a planet--Venus. We patiently waited for the sky to darken, filling our time with chatting and snuggling. Matt began to get so excited as it got darker and the stars multiplied. He was tossing his head back and forth and really enjoying talking about the stars with me. Well--at least that's what I think we were talking about. Matt's a little hard to understand still.
Eventually, as the night became black, he quieted down, his head stopped moving from side to side and he fell asleep peacefully in my arms. It was one of my favorite moments with my chidren so far.

I had a nice snuggle moment today with my little boy too. i was laying down on the couch, watching HGTV, and Caleb layed down with me and feel asleep for about 20 mins or so. I asked Mae to get the camera and take a picture, but just as she was about to snap the pic, he woke up. darn, I was hoping to capture the moment!
Oh so sweet!
But more importantly...you're so smart...knowing that it was 2 stars and a planet. I would have said it was just a really bright star! You're such a smartie! I love you!
PS...I would have star gazed with you! But I don't think we can both fit on one of those chairs!
